Why Would I Want Water Treatment?
To answer that we have to start with what is in your water… we typically deal with one of two different water qualities:
- Municipal Water or City Water. This is the water you pay for in your monthly water bill, supplying your home. Disinfectants are added to the water. Typically in Florida, chloramines are the main product used to disinfect water. Chloramines are a combination of chlorine and ammonia. Chlorine disinfects the water and ammonia does two things: 1st it stabilizes the chlorine, so it stays in the distribution center longer. 2nd it covers up the smell of the chlorine. Additionally, our Florida water typically has a lot of hardness. We have specially designed systems that remove those chemicals from the water, making the water safer for you and your family. - Well Water. Well water is defined as water from either a private or community well that the government does not treat. The owner of the residence is responsible for providing their own water treatment to ensure safe water. Did you know that no two wells are the same.. even if they are right next to each other?Traditionally in Florida the key well water concerns are microbiological matter (bacteria), hardness, pesticides, herbicides, organic matter (tannins), iron, hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell), heavy metals, and salt water intrusion. Whole home water filtration systems are point-of-entry filtration systems that filter your water as it enters your home.
